Rocky Ness, Kingsbarns golf course, is regarded by many golf journalists as the best 15th hole in the UK and Ireland. It is one amongst many fantastic holes at this amazing Links, nine miles south of St Andrews, in Fife. With only water or a rocky shoreline between the tee and the safety of the green 170 yards away, accuracy is paramount. Add in the weather which can blow hard off the sea and the thick stand of trees to the right that stands ready to capture any balls hooked by those too afraid of a watery grave, and you have one of the great holes in golf. This picture captures the scene on a beautiful sunny day, with the tide in and the vibrant colours of the course and sea almost Mediterranean in their intensity. You can see why many judge a round at Kingsbarns not just a golfing treat, but a visual one too.
