This picture was created for a book about castles and palaces around the world. It is probably the most complex cut-away illustration I have ever painted.
It shows the rooms through which ambassadors would process when visiting King louis XIV who would be seated at the end of the Hall of Mirrors on the right of the image.
I got rather carried away with this picture, which took almost a month to paint. After visiting Paris to research the palace and take lots of photos, all details are accurate and minutely rendered, including the marbling on the columns and the tapestries and paintings.
