My work centres around watercolour landscapes seascapes and abstracts. I am blessed with an abundance of subject matter as, living in Yorkshire there is no end to the natural beauty and drama that surrounds me. With my family living in Scotland I am doubly spoilt in my choice of subject matter.

When I start a painting I usually have in mind an end result but until things have developed past a point of no return I work freely giving the paint and water a chance to drive where the painting goes stylistically. This is why I love watercolours. It is the best medium for experiencing happy accidents and fortuitous events, and frequently such moments determine the final image.

That is not to say everything is down to luck! You have to know what you are doing to be able to control lady luck, to understand composition, how colours react and mix together when laid over one another or used wet in wet, and to have the confidence to express energy and fluidity in drips, splashes and flicks of pigment.

Each of my watercolour landscapes seascapes and abstracts are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity for issues of provenance. It contains information on when the painting was completed, the size of the image, your name as first owner, and the price for valuation and insurance purposes.
