In my opinion, one of the trickiest and most beautiful par 3 golf hole in Yorkshire – the 5th at Cleckheaton Golf Club, designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, the famed golf course designer, and architect of Augusta National, venue of The Masters tournament.
At 170 yards downhill you tee off to a long, thin green. A bunker at the front catches anything short and two at the back gobble up over-hit shots. The green slopes towards the front bunker so anything with spin will gather there. A back pin is protected from an ideal draw shot by a large tree growing next to a little stream running beneath the green.
The vista across this hole is simply stunning. I’ll never tire of it and I guess the members of the club never do either.
