Description
Column View Harlow Carr captures one of the major vistas found in the Royal Horticultural Society’s North Yorkshire attraction. The gardens are split in two by a stream that runs through the bottom of a small valley, that on one side is given over to lawns, flowers, ponds, and a large vegetable area, and on the other by a woodland flank. Nestled into the woods is a folly consisting of Doric, stone columns protected by two lion sculptures that is reached by a rustic, stepped path that rises from a bridge that crosses the stream. The columns and the stepped path forms the ony tiny, focused area of the painting whilst the rest is rendered very loosely; the long sweep of lawn being depicted as a thin rectangle of green that leeks out of the bottom of the painting, whilst the trees that enclose the folly are shown as patchwork of muted Winter colours.
Column View Harlow Carr is a second, recently produced painting where I have used dramatic proportions to create an eye-catching work of art.
The original art is available to buy, as are two types of print: A limited edition of 100, hand-signed, fine art prints, and a smaller, standard, hand-signed, print.
